Dental Implants

Dental implants allow our patients a whole new way to restore missing teeth. With a dental implant, we can do more than place a false tooth, we can actually rebuild the structure from the base, recreating the root and reconnecting with the jaw. The advancement of dental implants allow our patients a permanent, healthier solution. Our staff at United Smile Centres can help you have a fully restored tooth, or even multiple teeth, when missing.

A dental implant is a post that we surgically place, it is designed to replace missing teeth. Implants are available in both a titanium metal or a non-metal ceramic. The implant is shaped with a threaded end that is sunk into the jawbone and a head designed to hold a prosthetic device including a dental crown, a dental bridge or even a full denture. The incredible part of this process comes from your body’s own natural ability to heal. We set the implant, but your body will then naturally grow new bone around the threads fusing the implant and the bone permanently together for a firm and stable hold. This natural healing process means a more permanent solution for you.

The Benefits of a Dental Implant

Replacing teeth with a dental implant provides our patients with many benefits, including:
•  Healthier For Your Neighboring Teeth: Traditional restorations require a way to stabilize the prosthetics. Without an implant, this requires altering the otherwise healthy tooth to serve as an anchor. It’s important to replace missing teeth, but if we can do it without altering or damaging healthy teeth, it is always the better option.
•  Healthier For Your Bone: When a tooth is lost, the bone that held it suffers. The stimulation that your teeth provides your bone keeps it robust, without the tooth the bone loses bulk due to atrophy. The more teeth you lose, the more noticeable the effects will be, your entire facial shape can change.
•  Healthier For Your Jaw Joint: When a tooth is lost, it opens up room for neighboring teeth to shift in an uncontrolled manner. Teeth can shift, changing your bite and causing strain and stress to your jaw. Some patients suffer from a condition known as TMJ Dysfunction, which can cause jaw pain, the inability to open or close fully, and can even cause facial pain or migraines.

Dental Implant Options

Traditional crowns, bridges or dentures are not your only option when replacing missing teeth. Dental implants can provide a solution that looks and feels much like your natural teeth. Dental implants come with a variety of options, we can find the right solution for you. They come in a variety of lengths and widths depending on the work being completed, including mini implants, implant retained dentures or fixed dentures and the All-on-4® Treatment Concept.
