“What is a dental implant?”
A dental implant is a replacement tooth root. A dental implant is simply a small titanium screw that replaces a tooth in the bone. A single implant may support a single crown or several implants may help replace multiple or even all of your teeth.
Crown or Prosthesis
The implant is a strong foundation for whatever you need to have built on top of it.
In this example there is one implant supporting a single tooth replacement. The dental implant replaces the tooth root in the bone, the crown replaces the part of the tooth you see in your mouth, and a part called the abutment connects the implant and crown together. The crown can be cemented or screwed into placed.
